Code on the Go support and feedback resources

If you use Code on the Go, we rely on your feedback to help ensure that the app gets better with every release. And, your questions about using the app help us identify which features require more documentation, tutorials, or even a revision to the UI. In fact, features like preview for Jetpack Compose layouts, cloning a Git repo from the main menu, and adding Android NDK support (now available as a plugin) and many more are the direct result of user requests.

Here’s a list of all the ways you can communicate with the Code on the Go team—pick your favorite and let us know what’s going on!

Community support in Telegram

Our active Telegram community is often the first place where bugs and needed features are identified. We regularly monitor Telegram for help requests, bug reports, and feature suggestions, and we strive to make the community a welcoming environment for newcomers and veteran CoGo developers alike.

If a Telegram message reveals a new issue, our support lead Ben may ask for additional information such as screen shots, videos, logs, or other files. Then, he creates a publicly visible GitHub issue so the reporter and the community can track its resolution. (We are occasionally asked whether Ben is an AI. He is not. He is a living human who is unfailingly polite, friendly, and concise.)

Track issues in GitHub

Our public repository is hosted at www.github.com/appdevforall/codeonthego. You can report problems and request features directly on the repo’s issues page and view the list of issues and feature requests that are already recorded.

Creating a GitHub issue automatically creates a ticket in our internal systems, which is triaged and prioritized. The internal ticket contains a link to the original GitHub issue so we can let you know when your issue is addressed or your requested feature is implemented.

Feedback through the app

A floating action button to send us feedback is displayed everywhere in the CoGo app. When you tap the button and tap OK, the app generates an email addressed to [email protected] that includes the app version, device type, Android version, a screen shot of the page where you tapped the button, and a stack trace (if possible). You can add as much detail to the message as you want and attach any logs or project files. (You can also send email directly to [email protected].)

The feedback email address is monitored by our support and engineering teams. If you’re reporting an issue or requesting a feature, we’ll add it to GitHub issues, and if you’re asking for help, the support team will reach out to assist.

Automated crash reporting

We hate it when this happens! The good news is that if you see the crash screen, the event is automatically logged along with detailed information about your environment. If you’d like to give us more details—which are helpful if the crash recurs on your system—you can use any of the above methods to let us know the activities that led to the crash and provide screenshots, logs, and/or project files to help us pinpoint the cause so we can fix it.

Code on the Go is built for you, so don’t hesitate to get in touch! Thanks for being such a vital part of the CoGo community.
