IMPORTANT: Clean install recommended to avoid Gradle initialization issue
Some users may experience a problem where Gradle projects fail to initialize. If you are experiencing this problem, choose one of the following options:
- Uninstall Code on the Go completely, and install release 26.06. This is the recommended solution.
- Install 26.06 without uninstalling the previous version. If you choose this option, follow the steps to update your packages to resolve the issue.
- Update your existing Code on the Go without installing release 26.06. If you choose this option, follow the steps to update your packages to resolve the issue.
NOTE: Even if you aren’t experiencing the issue, we strongly recommend that you choose one of those options to ensure that your packages are up to date.
How to update packages
To ensure that packages are up to date for releases 26.05 and earlier, or if you installed 26.06 as an update instead of uninstalling and earlier version, follow these steps.
- Open Terminal.
- Run apt update.
- Run apt ‐upgrade ‐y.
- When prompted whether to keep current versions, press Enter or type n. (If you type y instead, your existing settings may be lost.)
- Run apt ‐‐with-new-pkgs upgrade -y openjdk-21.
- Restart Code on the Go.
