Code on the Go release notes – 26.36

Toolchain upgrade is coming soon

Last week, we announced our upcoming toolchain upgrade. Instead of releasing it today as previously planned, we’re postponing the release to put it through additional testing. Stay tuned for more information! Learn more about the upgrade and how to plan for it here.

NEW: Git branch management

This release introduces improved Git branch management. In the bottom sheet Git tab, the current branch is displayed. Tap the branch name to show a list of branches, where you switch, create, and merge branches.

NEW: Extensions Manager for templates and plugins

The Plugins Manager is replaced with the Extensions Manager, which allows you to manage both plugins and project templates. You’ll find Extensions Manager on the app’s Preferences page.

New Kotlin code action: Inline variable

The new Inline variable item replaces every usage of a local variable with its assigned value and removes the declaration. Because the edits often land off-screen, be sure to check the whole enclosing function and not just the line you invoked it on.

Other fixes and improvements

  • Fixed an issue that could cause plugins to crash when saving changes to a file.
  • Improved long-press behavior for dialog boxes.
  • Documentation improvements including new tooltips, enhanced delivery speed, improved character encoding, and fixing issues in the Bookshelf plugin and the documentation server.
